“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” Helen Keller.

We only live once and yet most of the people are busy living for someone else. Most of the people live only to earn money till they die. Most of the people do not dare to live their dream.

At the end of life, most of them repent “I wish I could have… “

An Australian nurse, Bronnie Ware, spent several years caring for patients during the last 12 weeks of their lives. She routinely asked her patients about “ any regrets they had or anything they would do differently.”

In her book “The Top Five Regrets of the Dying” she writes top 5 regrets are following.

  1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
  2. I wish I hadn’t worked so much.
  3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
  4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
  5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

In spite of knowing we only live once, in spite of knowing all money will remain here when we die, in spite of knowing time moves faster than we think, why most people are busy with earning money till they die or during their whole healthy life.

We have assumed that earning money is the only purpose of our human life. The realisation of this great misconception comes when we are at the fag end of our life.

On the eve of my one more birthday tomorrow, I tried to search on Google why people do not dare to live their dream. I found several reasons. Here is a collection of major reasons;

Tried something, failed and gave up. This is one of the top reasons. No one succeeds at the time trial.

“Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness.” Oprah Winfrey

J.K Rowling was rejected by 12 publishers.

“It is impossible to live without failing at something unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all — in which case, you fail by default.” J.K. Rowling

It’s a failure when you give up.

If you have a dream or a passion and you keep getting rejected or running into failure, don’t let that stop you.

If you’re going through a tough time in your life, but working on something you really believe in, don’t give up. If you do, you’ll never know what could have been.

Who knows, you might end up breaking records.

I had more than 100 rejections from various production houses before my first movie script was considered and accepted by a leading production house.

We see people around are busy in their jobs and business i.e. money-earning activity. So, we don’t dare to do differently. Herd mentality.

They have no other idea of doing something in life other than earning money.

Even for earning money many people are comfortable with the jobs, that is okay. But if you wish to become an entrepreneur and you do not make an attempt to pursue entrepreneurship dream, it is again a failure.

Getting bored is another reason people give up. But the guy training for Olympic does not give up. He also gets bored. He has a mission in front of him we do not have a mission so we give up.

“The writer’s curse is that even in solitude, no matter its duration, he never grows lonely or bored.” Criss Jami, Killosophy

Do not get bored and give up. Boredom is a part of every work. Take a break, do other interesting activity and approach the work with a fresh mindset.

“If you hear a voice within you say you cannot paint, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.” Vincent Willem van Gogh

Initial failure creates self-doubt. This is a huge deterrent. When success is eluded for long which is the case mostly, self-doubt grows.

“Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.” William Shakespeare, Measure for Measure

So not let your self-doubt win over you will to succeed.

After getting rejection after rejection I continued to write scripts. 6 scripts already done and now working on the 7th. Two more stories are bouncing in the mind.

If you are surrounded by people who have no dream and discourages you, you are likely to give up. On the contrary, if people around you encourage, it gives the energy to push and pursue.

As they say, you are known by the company you keep. But your success and failure are also influenced by the company you keep. Some people are born pessimistic.

If your dream ss non-monetary, avoid the company of people who do not have any aspiration in life other than money.

This is true. Pursuing a dream is not as safe as your 9 to 5 job. Here success not guaranteed.

Risk-taking is not for everyone. But the saying goes not taking risk is the biggest risk.

“Passion is one great force that unleashes creativity, because if you’re passionate about something, then you’re more willing to take risks.” Yo-Yo Ma

Risk-taking is a part of pursuing a dream. Take it now rather than repenting later.

It is not about when you get the time. Success requires consistent persuasion. You have to have a dedicated plan of action. The goal with an action plan or system to achieve it is useless.

“We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret or disappointment.” Jim Rohn

Most successful people pursued their dreams in their daily suffered from the pain of discipline. Rest are suffering from the pain of regret or disappointment. The choice is yours.

Seeing other people successful in other things or others failing in what you aspire to do may make you shaky. Distraction is dream killers. It shakes your self-confidence.

Not pursuing a dream is safe. No risk of failure or uncertainty. Pursuing a dream is for the brave hearts.

Success is not guaranteed, frequent encounters with failures. Days of uncertainty, self-doubt and again rededication. This is why they say dare to pursue your dream It’s a daring adventure. It is not a routine comfort zone. It is not a sure shot game.

No time is the right time and all the time is the right time. There will not be an invitation for you to start pursuing your dream.

As Amitabh Bachchan says in KBC your time starts now, you also can say it to yourself Now. Amitabh Bachchan won’t come to everyone to awake.

You are busy with different priorities. You think what you want to do in life can wait for what you are presently doing.

Find time, prioritise and dedicate time for your dream. Dedicate daily even 10 minutes. Take the first step. The rest will follow.

“Remember your dreams and fight for them. You must know what you want from life. There is just one thing that makes your dream become impossible: the fear of failure.” Paulo Coelho

So, trust your hope, not your fears. You have two choices. Take no risk and live risk-free or live an adventurous life.

Do not leave any chance to repent at the end of your life. Your time had started long back, start living your life now for yourself.
