Beyond the horrors of Corona, the last 20 months have been quite productive and contemplative for everyone.

WFH improved not only productivity but also the family time we spent. The quality and quantity of time spent with the family members increased. Both spouses could get a better chance to know each other’s life. The parents also could spend more time with their children. This was a much-desired need for every family. The family members spend time with each other, know more about each other, and appreciated each other’s roles.

With so many deaths around us, the obvious thought in people’s minds was their own death and therefore their own life.

Corona has made us believe that we can die, and can die in a few days. Our mortality was never in doubt but its timing was always believed to be infinite. The thinking that others can die not me was jolted. Coronavirus made us fully aware of our mortality. This is the positive aspect of the whole Corona era.

I could publish four books in the last 12 months. Three non-fiction and one fiction. The fiction is in two languages; Gujarati and English. So, in a way total of five books.

For authors, this is a wonderful time. With the arrival of Kindle, the self-publishing of eBooks had commenced. Now even print book self-publishing has removed one very big obstacle for authors, i.e. the need for having a publisher.

Now authors can self-publish eBooks and print books without any cost. Yes, this self-publishing is also about self-marketing if you choose a free package from the publishing site. A print-on-demand site like Notion Press is really a boon for the new authors. Any author can publish their own book here on their platform at no cost. They also have paid packages for those who want support.

The demand for self-publishing is so much so that the Notion Press has 30000 authors who have published their book on the platform. This is going to go up. Marketing is the game now, whether it’s a start-up or self-publishing of books. Money or media publishing platforms are in plenty.

Here is my attempt to market the books I have published in the last 12 months. Late start with the latest.

This is about the contemplation I mentioned above. How and why the idea of our death should make us think about our life. How we live it and the side effects of our living on people living around us.

An interesting fiction about what if people say the truth instead of good and how it transforms the protagonist, the top lawyer Aniket Desai.

The forward is written by famous Marathi actor Sachin Khedekar, who has worked in Marathi, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Gujarati language films.

The book compels the reader to view life from the perspective of death. Perhaps this could be the finest self-help book you will read.

This is sharing my 30 plus years of experience in dealing with the subject and entrepreneurs. I divided the subject into two parts. One of personal finance and one of business finance. This book is about business finance.

Financial Literacy is very important literacy but ironically is not given the importance it deserves in our education system.

“One of the reasons the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the middle-class struggles in debt is because the subject of money is taught at home, not at school.” Robert Kiyosaki, Educational Entrepreneur.

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) “financial literacy is a combination of awareness, knowledge, skill, attitude, and behavior necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve individual well-being”.

As per the ‘Global Financial literacy barometer’, India ranked 23rd among the 28 countries surveyed, with 35 percent of its population termed financially literate.

As per a global survey by Standard & Poor’s Financial Services LLC (S&P) less than 25% of adults are financially literate in South Asian countries. For an average Indian, financial literacy is yet to become a priority. India is home to 17.5% of the world’s population but nearly 76% of its adult population does not understand even the basic financial concepts.

“The number one problem in today’s generation and the economy is the lack of financial literacy.” Alan Greenspan

Some of the stalwarts have praised the book. They include CA Suresh Prabhu, Former Minister, GOI, and Former Chairman, Saraswat Bank.

Sumedha Chopra (Retd.), IIM — A Alumna, & Tanutejas Saraswat CEO, ShopKirana.

Financial literacy in India and the world over is extremely low and it’s more so when it comes to women. For the women knowing about the family, finances are empowering. The subject of personal finance and its importance for women is covered in this book.

The book is praised by Lulu Raghavan, MD, Landor & Fitch, Veena Naravane, President, Army Wives Welfare Association, Darshana Jain, CEO, Snapper Future Tech, Chairperson, CREDAI Smart Cities, & Dr. Sarika Kulkarni, Director, Raah Foundation.

This is not only a much-talked-about subject but an extremely important subject. We keep talking about work-life balance but balance is extremely important in all aspects of life. This book tries to capture the areas where balancing is important. There are 100 aspects of life covered in the book as short chapters where we strive to achieve balance.
