“True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient, for he that is so, wants nothing.” Seneca

Life happens at present. The future was always uncertain, though we assumed it to be certain. Now we have come to terms with the reality of an uncertain future.

There is a famous quote The Future won’t be an extrapolation of the past but hardly anyone agreed when the life was unfolding smoothly as per the expectation.

The present pandemic has made many people worry about their future. As the number of COVID patients is increasing, so is the number of people worrying about their economic future. This anxiousness may trigger another mental health pandemic. To avoid that condition for you, the following quotes by people with wisdom would be of help.

“If you are depressed, you are living in the past, if you are anxious, you are living in the future, if you are at peace, you are living in the present.” Lao Tzu

“The only thing that is ultimately real about your journey is the step that you are taking at this moment. That’s all there ever is.” Eckhart Tolle

“No amount of regretting can change the past, and no amount of worrying can change the future.” Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

“Do not ruin today with mourning tomorrow.” Catherynne M. Valente.

“We suffer more often in imagination than in reality.” Seneca

“They lose the day in expectation of the night, and the night in fear of the dawn.” Seneca

“But life is very short and anxious for those who forget the past, neglect the present, and fear the future.” Seneca

“Worry pretends to be necessary but serves no useful purpose.” Eckhart Tolle

Living in the present is the only present you can give yourself. The future has its own plan you don’t know about and therefore you worry.

Remember, worrying for the future will make the gate wide open for the mental disease to enter. It can play havoc in your mind and body. Don’t allow that to happen. We are fighting COVID 19 visibly but we also should not allow this invisible mental disease to strike us. Stop worrying, accept the reality, and start living Now.

“Whatever is going to happen will happen, whether we worry or not.” Ana Munnar.

If the above quotes can’t make you live in the present, you may also read beautiful books titled The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie, or The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday.

Wake up from the anxious mindset of an uncertain future. Without worrying about the future, get the best out of what life today is offering you.

Remember, You are never going to live in the future, you are always going to live in the present.
